Inspire Oakland 2024
The Inspire Oakland Design Challenge offers students a chance to gain real-world experience while exploring careers in design and technology. Participants create original “Inspire Oakland” designs that inspire Bay Area residents using their unique creativity, vision of diversity, and spirit of innovation. This professional opportunity includes creating a bulletin billboard, bus bench ad, social media flyer, LED display, and t-shirt design.
PayPal x BRIDGEGOOD
BRIDGEGOOD participated in the PayPal Community Impact Grant Fair, nominated by Bedford Williamson, a Senior Engineer at PayPal and BRIDGEGOOD Ambassador. The event aimed to support local communities and expand economic opportunity, aligning perfectly with BRIDGEGOOD’s mission of providing economic mobility and opportunity to over 15,000 students since 2009.

Avenging for Equity x USC & BRIDGEGOOD
In a groundbreaking collaboration that highlights the power of art and storytelling in the pursuit of racial equity, BRIDGEGOOD, formerly known as Oakland Digital Arts & Literacy Center, has teamed up with the USC Race and Equity Center to produce a special issue of their Solutions Briefs series titled “Avenging for Equity: Race-Conscious Leaders Transforming California Community College Pathways.” This unique project showcases the artistic talents of California community college students while sharing powerful narratives of race-conscious leadership in the quest for equity.

I will miss traveling to colleges across the Bay Area all the way to Fresno. I will miss having the first insights into students’ artwork of the Inspire Oakland Design Challenges. I will miss being at the studio, sometimes by myself, and getting my work done, feeling productive and motivated to keep going. I will definitely miss conducting 80+ interviews to find the best 20 UX apprentices. I will miss working with 14+ companies, annually, to teach and facilitate the UX Design Apprenticeships. I will always miss and treasure my time at BRIDGEGOOD.
May 2021: Koka, Beyond BRIDGEGOOD
In an exciting and progressive collaboration spanning two years, Beyond and BRIDGEGOOD have been working hand-in-hand to nurture diverse talent within the design industry. BRIDGEGOOD, a nonprofit organization based in the vibrant San Francisco Bay Area, is committed to bridging the gap by providing essential access, professional opportunities, and tech literacy to under-resourced students and job seekers of color. Their hallmark UX Apprenticeship initiative, supported by Beyond, offers tuition-free access, hands-on training, and portfolio-building activities for Bay Area Artists and Designers. As part of this collaboration, Beyond has not only mentored BRIDGEGOOD’s apprentices but also offered internships, providing a stepping stone for emerging designers.
