SAN FRANCISCO — Google is reaffirming its commitment to supporting local nonprofits by opening up a dedicated workspace in San Francisco. The tech giant is providing a free community space for nonprofits to host events, meetings, and collaborative sessions. The initiative aims to foster collaboration and empower organizations to make a positive impact in their communities. The Google Community Space, located along the Embarcadero, offers a range of amenities, including an event room with a capacity for 150 people, a shared working area, and a fully equipped kitchen.
This 8,500-square-foot facility, initially launched as a pilot project in 2017, has already been supporting 50 organizations since January. Nonprofits have embraced the opportunity to utilize this versatile space and leverage the resources Google provides. The Google Community Space has become a hub for nonprofits in the San Francisco area, enabling them to connect with like-minded individuals, exchange ideas, and advance their missions.
One organization that has greatly benefited from this collaboration is BRIDGEGOOD, a nonprofit dedicated to providing user experience education and career tech advice to aspiring students. BRIDGEGOOD has taken advantage of the Google Community Space, utilizing it over 10 times since its inception. The organization has impacted more than 40 students through educational activities such as portfolio and case study workshops, enabling them to develop their skills and pursue rewarding careers in the tech industry.
“Google’s commitment to supporting nonprofits and fostering innovation is truly commendable,” said Shaun Tai, Co-Founder and Executive Director of BRIDGEGOOD. “The Google Community Space has been instrumental in helping us reach and educate aspiring students, enabling them to thrive in the digital world. We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Google and other nonprofits in this inspiring environment.”
As the Google Community Space continues to thrive, it serves as a testament to the power of collaboration and the positive impact that nonprofits can achieve when provided with the necessary resources. By offering a vibrant, fully equipped workspace free of charge, Google is fostering an environment where nonprofits can thrive, share ideas, and drive positive change.
