Designing for Social Good: Inspire Oakland

BRIDGEGOOD is thrilled to announce our 14th Annual Inspire Oakland Design Challenge Top 20 Student Presentations and first-ever Art Mart on May 9, 2023, at 55 Harrison Street in Oakland’s iconic Jack London Square.

Our mission since 2009 has been to help students design for social good by providing equitable tech access, design opportunities, and professional resources to job seekers. This event will give participants a chance to gain real-world experience while exploring careers in design and technology.

The Top 20 students will present their original “Inspire Oakland” design that inspires Bay Area residents using their unique creativity, vision of diversity, and spirit of innovation. As part of this professional opportunity, they have created a bulletin billboard, bus bench ad, social media flyer, LED display, and t-shirt design. The Top 6 will get their artwork featured on commercial media.

BRIDGEGOOD’s commitment to promoting local talent is on full display as we bring together 12 local art vendors from across the Bay Area. Our event will provide a safe space and environment for artists to showcase their work, and for attendees to immerse themselves in the Oakland art scene.

This event is free and open to all community members. Youth under 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Thanks to our generous sponsors Adobe, Comcast, and BRIDGEGOOD, we are able to offer this unique opportunity to our community.

We believe in the importance of designing for social good and introducing design opportunities for designers of color. We are excited to cultivate the next generation of designers in tech, design, and beyond.

Join us on May 9th for an unforgettable experience! The Art Mart is from 12pm-1pm and 3:30pm-4:30pm and the Inspire Oakland Top 20 Student Presentations are from 1pm-3:30pm. Come and be inspired at the Inspire Oakland Design Challenge!
