BRIDGEGOOD’s Inspire Oakland Design Challenge is calling all creative students (ages 18+) to submit bold, original artwork that answers the prompt: “What about Oakland inspires you?” Open to students across Northern California, this annual showcase celebrates community, creativity, and design for social good.
Presented by BRIDGEGOOD, Inspire Oakland gives finalists the opportunity to present their work to industry professionals and see their designs featured on massive public displays — from billboards to bus benches — totaling over $75,000 in media value.
Why Inspire Oakland Matters: Advancing Equity, Access, and Career Readiness Through Design
- Develop career-ready skills by guiding students through the creation of a real-world design case study, a valuable portfolio asset as they enter competitive job markets.
- Facilitate mentorship and professional growth through structured in-person and virtual feedback sessions with BRIDGEGOOD staff and design stakeholders.
- Enhance communication and critical thinking by encouraging students to articulate their design rationale, receive feedback, and iterate on their work—skills essential for long-term career success.
- Expand access to industry networks by connecting participants with professional designers and creative leaders through BRIDGEGOOD’s nearly 20-year community and corporate partnerships.
- Elevate visibility and opportunity—Top finalists receive high-profile exposure through commercial media placements, building early trust and credibility in the design industry.
Designs must be submitted digitally by Friday, April 11, 2025 at 11:59 PM PST. Participants are encouraged to attend free Open Labs — virtual and in-person sessions where you’ll receive real-time design feedback. For entry details and submission form, visit: www.inspireoakland.com

Help spread the word—forward this to classmates, friends, and emerging designers in your network.
